Frequently asked questions

Do I need to book?+

No — Merry Tree is a walk-in carvery, so you can drop in for lunch or a coffee any time we're open. Booking is only needed for afternoon tea, groups of 8 or more and private hire.

When are you open?+

Daily, 10am – 4pm. Some weekends in the run-up to Christmas we stay open until 5pm.

Where are you?+

Rath East, Tullow, Co. Carlow. Get directions.

Do you serve afternoon tea?+

Yes — freshly baked treats, delicate sandwiches and something sweet to finish. It's €19 per person, or €25 with a glass of Prosecco. Please book at least 24 hours ahead with a small deposit.

How does the deposit work?+

For afternoon tea you pay a small deposit when you book, and it comes off your bill on the day. For groups of 8 or more there's a €50 deposit. If you cancel in time, the deposit is refunded in full — 24 hours before for afternoon tea, 48 hours for groups. See our booking terms.

How do I book for a large group?+

Groups of 8 to 15 can book online on our groups page. For more than 15, or to hire the Shillelagh Room (seats 50), please make an enquiry or call 059 915 6285.
